Eastern Kentucky University Announces New Head Baseball Coach
Chris Prothro Named to Lead Colonels
RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University has selected Chris Prothro as the new head baseball coach, Director of Athletics Matt Roan announced on Monday afternoon.
Prothro's Background
Prothro comes to EKU after spending the past six seasons as the head coach at Tennessee Tech. Prior to his time in Cookeville, Tennessee, Prothro was the head coach at Western Kentucky from 2009-14. He has also served as an assistant coach at Kentucky, Mississippi State and Florida.
During his time at Tennessee Tech, Prothro led the Golden Eagles to the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament in each of his six seasons and advanced to the championship game twice. He also guided Tennessee Tech to regular season OVC titles in 2018 and 2021.
Prothro's overall head coaching record is 298-289. He was named the OVC Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2021.
